Walk With Web is an academically-oriented international corporation that builds computational tools for social sciences and humanities research projects, to help manage research websites, databases, and their teams.

In my role as Senior Web Designer, I:

  • Met with the client, the company CEO, to collect project requirements
  • Designed the company website as an interactive high-fidelity Figma prototype
  • Interviewed and supervised over 14 Junior Developers interns on the team over a course of 5 years
  • Developed a responsive website using Bootstrap, HTML5, JavaScript, CSS, and PHP
  • Maintained a MYSQL database used to manage the content on the website
  • Added features to Regenerated Identities, a digital content management service provided by Walk With Web

The design for the site was created as a figma prototype.

In order to break up the text on the page, using the company's brand colours I created a set of icons that reflected WWW's brand.

A MySQL database was used to manage the content on the website. I used PHP to connect to the database creating dynamic webpages that had features allowing users to filter the database content.

Some of the dynamic pages on the site featuring content from the MySQL database, searchable directories and filterable content.

Regenerated Identities

WWW provides a digital content management service (CMS), called Regenerated Identities (RegID), to support the development, deployment, and long-term maintenance of digital humanities research with special focus on Africa and the African diaspora.

I have worked on 16+ Digital Humanities research projects at WWW that utilise customized versions of the RegID CMS. The platform was created by Kartikay Chadha, WWW's CEO. Over the course of 5 years I was tasked with setting up custom versions of RegID for various research projects and updating them with project specific features.

RegID provides a graphical user interface allowing a project's team to enter and manage their projects content. Content is stored in a MySQL database and the platform provides forms, text editors and image and team member management. Changes are reflected in realtime on the live websites.
